Overview
This guide explains how to manage the end of a tenancy within the platform. You will learn how to mark tenants as moving out, update the property status for re-marketing, and officially finalize the tenancy once the occupants have vacated.
Process 1: Marking a Tenancy as "Moving Out"
When a tenant gives notice on a fixed-term or periodic tenancy, follow these steps to trigger the move-out workflow and prepare the property for new applicants.
Open the Tenancy: Navigate to the specific tenancy record.
Select "Mark as Moving Out": Click the button located in the top action menu.
Set the End Date: Enter the date the current tenants are scheduled to leave.
Update Property Status: Choose how you want the property to appear on the market. You have several options:
Market Preparation (Default): Use this if you need to update photos, descriptions, or the rent amount before going live.
To Let: Select this to immediately list the property on portals.
Let Agreed: Use this if you already have a replacement tenant lined up.
Withdrawn: Select this if the landlord no longer wishes to let the property.
Submit: Click Submit to save the changes. The tenancy will now reflect a "Moving Out" status.
Process 2: Finalizing or Canceling the Move-Out
Once the move-out process has been initiated, you have two primary options depending on the outcome:
Ending the Tenancy
When the move-out date arrives and the tenants have vacated the premises:
Click the End Tenancy button. This marks the record as finished and moves it into your historical archives.
Canceling the Move-Out
If the tenants decide to stay or the move-out falls through:
Click Cancel Move Out.
You should then manually update the property status back to Live/Let to ensure it is removed from any active portal listings.
